World Communications Day

World Communications Day is a celebration of global social communications and was born out of the Second Vatican Council in 1963 (Inter Mirifica). It is celebrated in most countries, on the recommendation of the bishops of the world, on the Sunday before Pentecost.

The Pope sends a message for World Communications Day that is traditionally published in conjunction with the Memorial of St. Francis de Sales, patron of writers (January 24).
