Pray for Cardinal Vincent Nichols and the other new Cardinals

17/02/2014 3:38 pm

Praying hands with Rosary beads

Pope Francis' first ordinary public Consistory that saw the creation of 19 new cardinals - including  Cardinal Vincent Nichols - offered us the opportunity to come together as a Catholic community in England and Wales to celebrate and pray as one.

Please pray for our cardinals that they may have wisdom in serving the Church, both in the Vatican and in their leadership roles in their own countries.

For Cardinals

Father, keep in your people the Spirit which filled St Charles Borromeo.
Let your Church be continually renewed and show the image of Christ to the world by being conformed to His likeness, who lives and reigns with you for ever.

Amen

For Cardinal Vincent Nichols

Father, we pray for Cardinal Vincent Nichols.
Through the power of your Holy Spirit, give him wisdom and courage to do your will and to fulfil his role.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Amen

Nine Hour Novena

On Saturday 22 February, we're tweeting a nine-hour novena on @CatholicEW. On the hour, 9am until 5pm. Join us if you can.

9am
Our Father

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen

10am - 4pm
Hail Mary

Hail, Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen

5pm
Glory Be

Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.

Amen
