Abbot of Belmont re-elected

On 26th November the monks of Belmont Abbey re-elected Dom Paul Stonham to be Abbot for a second term of eight years. Abbot Paul, who is 61, was born in Wales and joined the Community in 1969 after taking a degree in modern languages. He did his theological studies in Rome and was ordained in 1975. He taught and was a house master in the school until 1981 when he was sent to Belmont’s foundation in Peru. He was elected Abbot of Belmont in December 2000 on the appointment of his predecessor, Dom Mark Jabalé, as Bishop of Menevia.
